i think it's ridiculous that churches in the US are using Halo to get young boys to go to church..innovative as they are..apparently they've been holding "Halo nights" where they set up screens and consoles and let ppl come and play their hearts out. they dont restrict the age limit and the game is only meant for those 18 and above. they're clearly sending out wrong signals as to what the purpose of going to church is. you do not go to church to play video games! true, it may bring them there and they might have a chance to share the gospel, but surely there are other ways, like sports or music or some other wholesome way..video games will just turn into addictions (like facebook haha) and what more a violent one teaching them wrong values? i admit i enjoy my fair share of shooting games..in fact most of the arcade games i play are shooting ones..like time crisis! :) but using that as a means to get people to come to church is just wrong. might as well get free booze and hot chicks to parade around..surely people will come. and we can set up a nightclub in church while we're at it. ridiculous. i think the churches in america are losing their morals. they're more "profit-driven" in terms of getting more churchgoers than "value-oriented" for lack of better terms. all they seem to care about is getting as many churchgoers (and i call them churchgoers cos they just go to church, not worship) as they can to fill the pews or smthg. i'm sure there are some who have the intention of truly converting them but half of them are just trying to keep up with the times..gay marriages being approved imagine that! no matter what the scientific studies have shown about how being gay is inherent and you're born with the gene or whatever they call it, it is stated very clearly and explicitly in the Bible that homosexuality is NOT natural and you aren't born a homo just look at what happened to sodom and gomorrah. for the non-Christians who may not, the cities of sodom and gomorrah were filled with people who were either wicked, evil and engaged in unnatural sexual acts. homosexuality being one of it..and sodomy as the name suggests..and the cities were subsequently razed to the ground in punishment for their deeds. and there are many commandments forbidding homosexual relations found in the Bible so the churches in US better watch it. i hope churches in singapore keep their stand according to God's Word. so far they've been doing a decent job, good on them singapore is still a conservative country, no matter what her citizens may think..and i'm beginning to see the benefits of that. i dont hate homosexuals. i wont dislike a person if he/she has not done me any wrong. it's just that given the chance, i'd very much like to know why they think that way and hope to change their mindsets. in fact, it's the churches that approve of gay marriages that ought to be shot for condoning such practices and encouraging them. and using things like Halo to attract teens to church.
