onion breath
2008-01-03

i have smelly onion breath from eating the cowboy burger at brewerkz. ok maybe it's cos i ate the raw onion..haha but i cant get rid of it though i brushed my teeth really well..and ate mints.. :p but i like onions :)

canada and taiwan were great. meeting up with carrie was the highlight of vancouver..skiing the best part of edmonton and meeting my aunt of course..but i see her often enough to not be overly excited haha..and the food and shopping were best in taiwan!!

canadian chinese food totally sucks. totally. even the supposed "authentic" chinese cuisine run by chinese. we went to this cantonese restaurant called HONs..supposed to be famous and recommended by lots of ppl, but the food was only so-so..it was better than the normal chinese food you'd get in the US or canada, but terribly disappointing after what everyone said. good thing dino said it wasnt v good before we went..least my expectations werent sky high! the duck was decent, wanton soup had nothing special about it except 2 prawns in each wanton, and the tau kee and brocolli in oyster sauce was bad. i guess if you like taukee you'd enjoy it..but i dont and i settled for eating brocolli and oyster sauce :p the tau kee had some stuffing which was similar to those you'd find in soong kueh..radish and turnip and black fungus and stuff. total yucks for me bleah. carrie and jonathan enjoyed it though i bet!!! hahahaha

happy that i got to go to shihlin and ximending in taiwan. didnt do much there but it was an eye opener to the ways of the taiwanese and their food and fashion..and cheap too! but i didnt have enough luggage space cos i had to stuff my bulky winter coats in my tiny luggage :p else i would have bought a cartload of bags and shoes back home man..better in terms of quality and cheaper than those in bangkok!

scenery in both countries were equally breathtaking. majestic and awe-inspiring in canada with their mountains..you could just be walking in town or taking a train and a mountain range pops up behind a skyscraper..beautiful. i'll add photos the next post. and taiwan has great coastal scenery..being an island and all i guess..but dear old singapore has nuts for coastal scenery. maybe a breakwater or two..tell me, which tourist in his or her right mind will start snapping photos of that?? so unscenic. the govt shld do smthg abt it! haha. dont suppose they can since singapore, being a port, cant really bother much or have the luxury to find nice rocks to erode.

bummer to have to do my fyp interim report..but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! ta!
